Thank you to everyone who had a part in preparing for the 2010 TMGA Conference Tour.  It was spectacular!  The Discovery Garden was beginning to put on a show.  The Climbing Pinkies were almost in full flush.  They were a great attention grabber.   The children's garden is really taking shape, and the Giant was indeed a delight.
Thank you to Marty De Lamos , Shelly Spearman, Carolyn Klemmedson, Tracee Williams, Janet Reeves, and Kathy Ward for your presence at the garden and for the weed pulling.  If I missed someone please forgive me.
Kathy welcomed the group after they enjoyed a light lunch.  Members of the Rockwall County Association provided handouts on the Knockout Rose Trials and also provided the participants with a 2009 Tour of Gardens Guide.  Todd led the group around the garden speaking at major talking points.  Everyone from Rockwall County assisted in answering garden questions.  The wind also did not disappoint and was present through the entire tour.  We were at the garden for approximately 40 minutes and then moved on to Peg Panell Smith's gardens followed by Jeanie Davis's residence in Old Town Rockwall.    As the bus was leaving the garden, it stopped at the gate before turning onto Riding Club Road.  I wish you had all been there to see the view of the garden that I did.  Everyone on the bus agreed that the view from the bus seats was spectacular.  By getting up above the garden, we were able to see how each part worked together for one total concept and great showpiece.
Peg, who was on our 2004 Tour of Gardens, not only allowed the participants to view her gardens but also allowed them to  tour her home and garages.  Everyone enjoyed her wonderful space.  Then we were on to the Davis residence.  As a site for our 2008 Tour of Gardens, the Davis residence again did not disappoint. Jeannie had everything looking fantastic.  The participants were able to see how she cleverly used a very small space to provide big views and a variety of plant selection.
The tour then traveled on to the San Martino Winery.  (Thank you to Angie Scalf for running the leg work on this site.)  They were able to taste four wines from the winery and learned how the grapes were grown and the methodology of the wine production.
The tourists then returned to the Omni.
